What's included?

The course should take you 1–1.5 hours to complete. But remember, this course is self-paced so you can do it in your own time within the 1 month access period, whenever and wherever you see fit.

Each module is divided into 4 units all including diagrams, definitions and references to aid learning.

Knowledge checks

Throughout this course, you will encounter short questions to test your knowledge of the content. These are not for marks. Instead they are opportunities to apply your learning in a safe space.

A final quiz

At the end of the course, you will need to complete a 15-question quiz and achieve 80% in order to pass the course and receive certification. You will be given 3 attempts to pass this quiz and each attempt is limited to 15 minutes.

Certificate of completion

After passing the final quiz you will receive a digital certificate from the Native Grapes Italian Wine Academy. This and other courses will help prepare you for further studies with WSG’s Italian Wine Scholar™ (IWS) or Vinitaly International Academy (VIA) certification study program.

How can I pay for my course?

This course costs $50 and you can pay this using PayPal.

What skill-level is required for the course?

This course is designed for novices to the topic of Italian wine and the appreciation thereof. Because it starts with the basics, it offers a good foundation for studies around other Italian grape varieties and wine styles.

Can I complete the course in my own time?

This course is completely asynchronous and self-paced which means that you can go through the content at your own speed within the 1 month access period, whenever and wherever you feel comfortable. However, you need to complete the final assessment within the 15-minute time limit.

Do I need to go through the content in order?

Yes. You will go through the content in chronological order. Once a section is complete, you will be able to return to it in order to recap certain information.

What happens if I fail the assessment?

You have 3 attempts to pass the assessment. If you fail on the 3rd attempt, you will need to get hold of support, re-enroll and pay for the course again. However, there is the option to motivate for a discount on the course fee. Support will offer more information around this. Once you are re-enrolled in the course, you will have full access to the course material and have 3 more opportunities to attempt the final quiz.

Are there in-person classes?

No. The course is entirely online, so you will not be required to be in a specific place at a specific time to complete the course.
